About Us
The Island Bookstore on Mackinac Island is open from May through October, and in peak season, we're open from 9am til as late as 10pm during the week, and 11pm on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays such as the Fourth of July. Our current staff collectively has more than 50 years of experience as booksellers, and far more as zealous readers. Each season you'll find on our shelves dozens of books, spanning a variety of genres, bearing our "Staff Pick" sticker.
Previously located above historic Doud's Grocery, the Island Bookstore has been at its current location under the Lilac Tree Hotel for over 20 years, but has been serving the Straits Area for over a decade more. We also have a location in downtown Mackinaw City, at 215 East Central Avenue. Our Mackinaw City store also houses a coffee shop and the new Mackinaw Old Time Photos.
